Punjab Budget 2024 Highlights: Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Cheema today presented the state budget of over Rs 2 lakh crore for FY25 in the state Assembly. The government has earmarked Rs 13,784 crore for agriculture sector. Cheema presented the second budget of the AAP government. The FM announced that the health and education are the focus areas of the government in the budget.

While presenting the budget in the state assembly under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann from the AAP (Aam Aadmi Party), Cheema noted that the government had generated over 40,000 jobs in the past two years. Out of the total annual budget of over Rs 2 lakh crore, Cheema specified allocations of Rs 13,784 crore for the agriculture sector and Rs 16,987 crore for education.

Punjab Budget 2024 Highlights: Over Rs 1 lakh crore revenue collection estimated

➤ Harpal Singh Cheema has estimated total revenue receipts for the year 2024-25 to be Rs 1,03,936 crore, which includes the state’s own tax revenue of Rs 58,900 crore. Additionally, it is anticipated that the state will receive a share of Rs 22,000 crore from central taxes and Rs 11,748 crore as grants-in-aid from the center for the financial year 2024-25.

Punjab Budget 2024 Highlights: Proposal for One River One Fish Farming Program

➤ A proposal has been put forward to initiate a One River One Fish Farming Program, under which a new fish farm will be established in the village of Kanya in the Fazilka district. The plan involves allocating 3233 acres of land for fish farming.

Punjab Budget Highlights 2024: Initiation of Online Integration of Mandis with Rice Mills

➤ The Punjab government has initiated the online integration of mandis with rice mills to curb the sale of rice brought in from outside in the mandis. The portal has been linked with PCSCL for grain procurement. The aim is to monitor electricity consumption of rice mills to prevent the purchase and recycling of PDS rice. A proposal of Rs 1072 crore funds has been made under various schemes in the department for the financial year 2024-25.
