Lok Sabha polls 2024: Contest begins for 102 seats of phase 1

The country’s mammoth exercise to elect its 18th Lok Sabha begins today, when 16.63 crore registered voters in 102 out of 543 constituencies will cast their franchise in the first and the largest of the sevenphased polls ending June 1.

A total of 1,625 candidates are in the fray, covering seats in 21 states and Union territories. Assembly elections in Arunachal (60 seats) and Sikkim (32) will also be held on the same day.

While results for the two legislatures will be out on June 2, Lok Sabha results will be declared on June 4.
