chandrababu naidu: TDP promises better booze at lower costs if it wins Assembly election, says Chandrababu Naidu

Bengaluru: Former Andhra Pradesh chief minister Chandrababu Naidu, who heads the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), has promised better quality spirit at reduced prices, if voted to power in the assembly election.

The state will go for simultaneous assembly and Lok Sabha elections in May this year. TDP, which has allied with the NDA for the general elections, has accused Andhra Pradesh’s YSRCP government of setting excessively high prices that do not align with the quality of the liquor.

“Prices of all commodities have gone up exorbitantly including liquor rates which are flying. Our younger brothers cheer when I mention liquor. They want the prices of liquor to be reduced. It is Jagan Mohan Reddy who increased the price from ₹60 (for a nip) to ₹200 and pocketed ₹100,” said Naidu.

Slamming the YS Jagan Mohan Reddy-led government, Naidu alleged that the former was spoiling the health of the people by supplying “cheap quality” booze. “I am telling you, after 40 days (of TDP forming the government), not only for quality liquor, we take the responsibility for reducing prices,” he said, speaking in a rally in Kuppam from where he is contesting the assembly polls.
