Thrissur Lok Sabha polls 2024: Date, schedule, result, party-wise candidates and other key details

Thrissur is one of the Lok Sabha constituencies of Kerala. It has been electing Congress and CPI candidates alternatively for some year now. No other party has ever managed to win this till now.

This year, the fight for Thrissur got even more interesting with Congress fielding Lok Sabha MP K Muraleedharan from the seat. Interestingly, he is the brother of Padmaja Venugopa who recently joined BJP.

The Election Commission will on March 16 announce the results of 2024 Lok Sabha polls. Elections are expected to be held in various phases.

Thrissur 2024 Lok Sabha polls: Candidates
For 2024 polls, Congress has picked K Muraleedharan, the sitting MP from Vadakara and brother of late K Karunakaran, to contest from Thrissur. BJP, on the other hand, has fielded actor-turned politician Suresh Gopi from Thrissur. CPI has fielded its senior leader V. S. Sunil Kumar from the constituency.

Thrissur 2024 Lok Sabha polls: Past Results
In last general elections, Congress’ T. N. Prathapan won the seat by over 93,000 votes, defeating Rajaji Mathew Thomas of CPI. BJP’s Suresh Gopi was at the third position with impressive count of 2,93,822 votes, with an increase of 17 per cent in his vote share.
