Man dies after crash involving tractor in Prince George County


PRINCE GEORGE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A man died Thursday evening after the sedan he was driving rear-ended a tractor along County Drive in Prince George County, according to police.

At 3:02 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 22, officers with the Prince George County Police Department were dispatched to a crash at the 10000 block of County Drive.

Once at the scene, officers determined that a 2010 Toyota Scion rear-ended a 2015 Kenworth tractor that was hauling logs. Police said both vehicles were driving in the eastbound lanes.

The driver of the Toyota was identified as 25-year-old Shelton Gerod Haskins, of Waverly. Haskins, who was the only person inside the Toyota, was declared dead at the scene.

The occupant of the tractor was not injured in the crash, according to police.

Police said investigators are currently working to determine the cause and circumstances of the crash.
