Bengaluru police issue heavy traffic alert in Majestic area due to Lok Sabha polls on May 7: Here are alternative routes

Bengaluru traffic police have issued a warning to commuters regarding potential traffic congestion near the bustling Majestic area, in anticipation of the third phase of Lok Sabha elections slated for May 7. With fourteen Lok Sabha constituencies in Karnataka gearing up for polls, a significant number of individuals from North and central Karnataka are expected to depart Bengaluru to cast their votes on Monday.

To accommodate the surge in travelers, the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has deployed additional buses for those heading to their hometowns to participate in the electoral process. Consequently, a heightened volume of buses is foreseen, which may lead to congestion around the Majestic area. In a statement, Bengaluru traffic police urged the public to be mindful of the situation, stating, “An appeal to the public, Due to the 2nd phase of Lok Sabha election in Karnataka state, a large number of people are going to their hometowns and KSRTC has left additional buses from Majestic / Kempegowda Bus Stand. There is a possibility of traffic congestion.”

In light of the potential congestion, alternative routes have been advised:
Commuters traveling from Raja Ram Mohan Roy and J.C Road towards Rajajinagar are encouraged to take the route via Palace Road, Chalukya Circle, Race Course road.

Those traveling from Raja Ram Mohan Roy towards Magadi Road are advised to opt for the route via N.R.Square, Townhall Circle, Market Circle, Royan Circle, Siri Circle.

The fourteen constituencies going to polls tomorrow include Bijapur, Gulbarga, Raichur, Bellary, Chikkodi, Belgaum, Bagalkot, Bidar, Koppal, Haveri, Dharwad, Uttara Kannada, Davanagere, and Shimoga. South Karnataka, including Bengaluru, already cast their votes during the second phase held on April 26. The election results are slated to be declared on June 4.
