Amit Shah: J&K polls within SC deadline of September: Amit Shah

Srinagar: Union home minister Amit Shah on Tuesday said the BJP strives to win hearts of the people of Jammu and Kashmir as the party is in no hurry to see lotus bloom in the valley.

Shah, while addressing an election rally in Jammu Lok Sabha constituency to campaign for BJP candidate Jugal Kishore, said that the regional parties are propagating the perception that BJP is out to occupy Kashmir, which is not correct. He added that assembly elections in J&K would be held within the Supreme Court deadline of September this year.

“We are not among the occupiers, we are among those who win hearts. You don’t have to worry. I want to tell the electorate of the valley that BJP has no urgency. When we get your love, lotus will bloom in the valley on its own as well,” said Shah.

He urged the people in the Kashmir Valley to not vote for the parties of Farooq Abdullah, Mehbooba Mufti and Sonia Gandhi. “You should vote for any other party. These three parties work for their sons and daughters and not for the people here,” he said. Shah’s assertion hinted at the BJP’s plan to not field any candidate directly from three Lok Sabha seats of Kashmir and is likely to support some other parties.

The Union minister accused the National Conference, People’s Democratic Party and Congress of exploiting children in the name of securing Kashmir and putting guns in their hands.

“I want to ask Farooq Abdullah and the PDP, during whose tenure most of the fake encounters took place? Who fired at the children of Kashmir and who gave guns in the hands of youngsters? These three parties did it,” said Shah. The BJP leader said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi not only ended fake encounters but also put an end to militancy and gave employment to youngsters. “Narendra Modi established peace in J&K and laid a path for development. He ended terrorism, stone pelting and hartals,” said Shah.He accused the PDP and NC of corruption and usurping the whole budget meant for the people of J&K.
