Tejasvi Surya highlights Centre’s hand in Bengaluru development little over two weeks before LS polls

The Narendra Modi-led central government had allocated over Rs 1.3 lakh crore towards Bengaluru’s comprehensive development over the last five years, BJP MP for Bengaluru South Tejasvi Surya said on Monday, around two weeks before his constituency votes in the general elections.

Speaking with the residents of Sun City Apartments in the city, Surya praised the Modi-government, highlighting projects like the expansion of Namma Metro lines, the Bengaluru Suburban Rail Project and the Satellite Town Ring Road projects which would help ease traffic congestion in the city.

“Over the past five years, numerous critical projects of the Central Government have been implemented in Bengaluru…Additionally, the Central Government has provided 1,500+ electric buses to the BMTC [Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation],” Tejasvi Surya said.

The city, he added, had a full-fledged National Investigation Agency (NIA) office, which had been established after his request, to investigate and counter anti-terrorism activities. “The investigation into the recent Rameswaram Cafe blast incident is currently being conducted by the NIA,” Tejasvi Surya said, alluding to the explosion that had taken place in the city’s tech hub on March 1, injuring 10 people. He also emphasised that the Modi government brought the US Consulate to the city, a long-pending demand since the time of former Chief Minister Shri S.M. Krishna

Surya, who has been chosen as the BJP’s candidate from Bengaluru South for the second term, will face polls on April 26. He expressed confidence in the constituency’s support, saying, “The people have accepted me as their own and will bless me once again to serve them.”
