India elections news: EC serves BJP’s Ghosh and Congress’ Shrinate notices for ‘derogatory remarks against women’

As the discourse heats up ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, the Election Commission of India on Wednesday issued show cause notices to BJP‘s Dilip Ghosh and CongressSupriya Shrinate for their remarks against West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee and BJP’s Lok Sabha candidate Kangana Ranaut respectively.

The ECI has asked for Ghosh and Shrinate’s responses by 5 pm, March 29, 2024.

The Commission has found the comments to be ‘undignified and in bad taste’ and prima facie violative of the provisions of the Model Code of Conduct and Commission’s advisory dated March 1, 2024.
