Delhi, Haryana weather forecast: 40-degree temperature, gusty winds and light rain predicted this week

Delhi and its surrounding areas experienced an abrupt shift in its weather patterns on Tuesday. Following a stretch of warm days, certain parts of the national capital saw light rainfall accompanied by robust gusts of wind. This meteorological phenomenon led to the diversion of many flights from Delhi. The Delhi Municipal Corporation reported instances of waterlogging and fallen trees following Tuesday’s rainfall and abrupt weather shift as gusty winds ranging from 40 to 70 kilometers per hour swept through the national capital, coinciding with light rain in certain areas.
However, for many residents, this sudden downpour brought a welcome reprieve from the scorching heat that had been dominating the region.

Looking ahead, the India Meteorological Department forecasts isolated rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds ranging from 30 to 40 kilometers per hour over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi on the 26th and 27th of April 2024. Additionally, there’s a likelihood of isolated hailstorms occurring over Punjab and Haryana during the same period.

Despite the brief spell of rain and forecast of gusty winds in the national capital and surrounding areas, temperature is likely to around 40 degrees around the weekend. The minimum temperature is likely to be around 25 degrees.

Moreover, the presence of a Western Disturbance, characterized by a cyclonic circulation over north Pakistan and northeast Rajasthan, alongside a forthcoming Western Disturbance from the northwest, is poised to impact northwestern India from April 26th. This influence is projected to bring scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall or snowfall, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning, over regions including Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand, with the potential for hailstorms in certain areas.A trough or wind discontinuity extending from Madhya Maharashtra to Kerala is anticipated to influence weather conditions in various regions, according to IMD. This influence is expected to manifest as isolated light rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds in Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Kerala, Mahe, Interior Karnataka, Telangana, and Tamil Nadu.

Heat wave warning

Heat wave conditions have been reported in various regions, including Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, Sub Himalayan West Bengal, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu. The heat wave has persisted in Odisha since April 15th and in Gangetic West Bengal since April 17th.

Over the next five days, heat wave to severe heat wave conditions are expected in certain pockets of Gangetic West Bengal and isolated areas of Odisha. Isolated pockets in Interior Karnataka, Rayalaseema, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and Sikkim will also experience heat wave conditions during this period. Additionally, Tamil Nadu will witness heat wave conditions while Jharkhand, Bihar, Telangana, and East Uttar Pradesh will experience them from April 24th to 27th. West Uttar Pradesh, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, and Yanam will face these conditions from April 25th to 27th, and Konkan on April 27th.

Furthermore, hot and humid weather is anticipated in various regions such as Kerala, Mahe, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Coastal Karnataka, Konkan, Goa, Assam, Meghalaya, Tripura, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Rayalaseema, and Bihar.
