‘Stop use immediately’: Telangana warns of three fake medicines being sold in the market


The Drugs Control Administration in Telangana has warned about spurious drugs labeled as manufactured by ‘Meg Lifesciences’ being circulated in the market. On investigation, it was found that ‘Meg Lifesciences’ does not exist. These drugs are falsified and contain no active ingredients, posing serious health risks as they are filled with chalk powder and starch, the drug authorities. Meg Lifesciences has been found to be a fictitious company and claims be based at Sirmour district in Himachal Pradesh.

The spurious drugs are being sold under the label MPOD-200 Tablets, MEXCLAV 625 Tablet, Cefoxim-CV Tablets and claimed to be manufactured by Meg Lifesciences.

In response to these alarming findings, the Drugs Control Administration in Telangana has issued a Spurious Drug Alert and Stop Use Notice for all drugs claiming to be from ‘Meg Lifesciences.’ Consumers and healthcare professionals are advised to immediately cease using any drugs labeled as manufactured by ‘Meg Lifesciences.’ Retailers and wholesalers are instructed to halt the sale and distribution of such drugs and report to the area Drugs Inspector promptly.

Recent raids conducted by the Drugs Control Administration or DCA have led to the seizure of stocks falsely attributed to Meg Lifesciences, amounting to Rs. 33.35 lakhs. Legal actions have been initiated against those involved in this illicit drug racket.

The public has been urged to stay vigilant and report any information regarding the distribution or sale of drugs claiming to be from ‘Meg Lifesciences’ to the authorities.
