pulse polio 2024: Three-day pulse polio vaccination drive begins today: Here are all details on booths, timings, and areas


A three-day nationwide pulse polio vaccination drive is being carried out across the country. Thecampaign will take start on Sunday for all children between the ages of 0 and 5. The campaign will involve mobile teams, transit teams, and dedicated vaccination centers in both rural and urban areas. On the first day, children aged up to 5 years can be brought to booths where they will be administered two drops of oral polio vaccine. For the next two days (March 4 and 5), health teams will visit every household and vaccinate children. The booths will function between 7am and 5pm.

As part of the campaign, the vaccination teams have already started administering polio vaccines to children in remote areas and shanties. In rural areas, home visits will be conducted for three days, while in urban areas, they will continue for five days. Several Intensified Pulse Polio Immunization teams have been deployed for this purpose.

Transit teams have been stationed at crowded market places, religious sites, bus stations, toll booths, and railway stations throughout the district. The mobile teams will reach out to children from nomadic tribes and in remote areas.

Vaccinations will also be available at all health centers, sub-centers, district hospitals, rural hospitals, and sub-district hospitals. School heads have been instructed to provide necessary facilities and keep schools open for polio drop administration. Taluk level committees and women self-help groups will also be involved to ensure total coverage.

In Ludhiana district, civil surgeon Dr. Jasbir Singh Aulakh successfully led the pulse polio vaccination campaign, administering polio drops to 4.78 lakh children under the age of five. Trichy Corporation in Trichy will hold an oral polio vaccination drive in 267 centers across five zones, covering 60,613 children. The drive will be carried out with the assistance of 1,036 health workers, including nurses. Mobile vaccination camps will be set up at transit hubs, and vaccination centers will be established in marketplaces and schools.
