Delhi murder: Father killed son to teach wife a lesson, avenge misbehaviour


Ranglal Singhal, the 54-year-old man who was arrested from Jaipur for the alleged murder of his 29-year-old son in south Delhi’s Devli, has revealed the reason behind the killing.

During police interrogation, Singhal confessed stating that he wanted to avenge his son’s misbehavior and physical abuse towards him. He also aimed to teach a lesson to his wife, who supported their son, by killing him a day before his wedding.

According to the investigators, the trigger for the murder was a brawl that occurred on Wednesday. However, Singhal had been contemplating killing his son for the past few months. He hired three contract killers, aged between 22 and 25, from the same locality and paid them Rs 75,000 for the job. The deal was fixed at Rs 1.5 lakh.

The investigation revealed that the father and son had frequent arguments, particularly regarding Gaurav’s extravagant lifestyle. Singhal expressed his desire for his wife to suffer for supporting their son. He chose the day before Gaurav’s wedding to inflict maximum pain on his wife. Singhal claimed that Gaurav had disrespected him and that his self-respect was diminishing due to his son’s behavior.

Singhal showed no remorse for killing his son and had even boasted to others the day before that he would do something memorable. On the day of the incident, Singhal lured Gaurav to their second house by asking a worker at his son’s gym to relay the message. When Gaurav arrived, he was brutally attacked with iron rods, knives, and scissors, resulting in over 15 injuries on his body.

With the assistance of the Rajasthan police, Singhal was apprehended while attempting to flee with Rs 15 lakh and 886 grams of gold. Singhal explained that he killed his son before the wedding to protect the girl from a ruined life. Police are also investigating whether there was a dispute between the father and son regarding Gaurav’s desire to marry another girl.Singhal’s primary source of income was rent, while Gaurav owned a gym. The family resided near Raju Park in Devli Extension. The police received a PCR call at 12.30 am on Thursday, reporting Gaurav’s sudden disappearance during his pre-wedding rituals. Family members found him lying in a pool of blood at his uninhabited house near the main residence.In conclusion, Ranglal Singhal’s arrest sheds light on the shocking murder of his own son, motivated by revenge and a desire to teach his wife a lesson.
