Jasmine Moss, a Memphis woman, appeared in court Thursday morning (January 15) facing charges of child neglect and child abuse after a viral social media post, reportedly shared back in 2023, stunned the internet. Let’s just say it involves her then-5-year-old daughter, waxing clients, and major outrage.

Mom Faces Backlash Over Claims Her 5-Year-Old Waxed Clients

The allegations involve a 2023 Instagram post in which Moss claimed her then-5-year-old daughter helped her wax 24 adult clients over an 8+ hour period at her home-based business, Jazzy Body LLC. The post also claimed they earned $744, which Moss said she planned to save for her child’s future. The post went viral, sparking outrage and concern about the child’s welfare and safety.

Moss’s attorney, Blake Ballin, recently called the case “unusual and complicated,” citing ongoing Department of Children’s Services investigations and cosmetology licensing questions. He argued that while Moss’s parenting decisions may have been “questionable,” they do not rise to criminal behavior. He also emphasized that the child remains in Moss’s custody. It’s also noted that Moss has “remedied” the situation and expressed hope that prosecutors would drop the charges. The judge indicated the case may take more time to resolve between the defense and prosecution, with Moss’s next court appearance scheduled for July 16, 2026.

Moss’ Viral Post Drew Police Attention

Let’s take it back to where this all started. As previously reported, questionable images first began circulating online showing a young child allegedly helping wax an adult woman, and the internet went wild. The photos, reportedly shared by salon owner Jasmine Moss, immediately raised red flags and drew the attention of Memphis Police, who then teamed up with the Tennessee Department of Children’s Services to investigate.

2024 Court Appearance Followed Moss’ Shocking Arrest

Furthermore, things escalated quickly for Jasmine Moss. In 2024, the Memphis Police Department tweeted that it had issued a warrant for Jasmine Moss’ arrest on February 16. Additionally, they served it the following Monday, February 19. Police took Moss into custody on child neglect charges, and they did not set a bond at the time. She appeared in court on February 21, 2024. Meanwhile, authorities kept the child’s identity private to protect her as a minor.
