Two men dead after Virginia police pursuit in Prince William County

Virginia State Police are investigating a double fatal crash that occurred Sunday morning around 3:45 a.m. on I-95 near Route 123.

Officials say a Virginia State Trooper attempted to initiate a traffic stop when they observed a Dodge Charger traveling 72 mph in a 55 mph zone.

The trooper activated his emergency lights and siren for the traffic stop, but the driver refused to pull over.

Instead, the driver of the charger sped off south on I-95 and then took the exit on to Route 123 in Prince William County.

The driver of the Charger lost control on the ramp and ran off the right side of the roadway and struck a wall.

The vehicle continued up the cement wall and struck the bottom of the overpass for the I-95 express lanes.

The impact of the crash caused the car to burst into flames.
