Brood X emerges every 17 years in parts of the US, including northern Virginia. I first experienced their gross magnificence back in 2004 only a few weeks after buying and moving into our first house. I’ve been waiting for their return ever since, but now that they are here, I’m ok with them leaving as soon as possible. After just a few days, I think I’ve had a enough of them for another 17 years!
