Newport News, Virginia, police and other officials held a press conference to provide updates on the shooting of a teacher by a 6-year-old student at Richneck Elementary School on Friday. The student took a handgun purchased by his mother from his home to the elementary school, where he shot and wounded teacher Abigail Zwerner, police said Monday. The shooting occurred as part of an altercation and was not an accident, according to police.
