The NBA has banned Toronto Raptors’ Jontay Porter on Wednesday for violating gambling rules of United States, according to reports.

The league mentioned in a report that Porter disclosed “confidential data to sports bettors, excluded his self participation in one or more games for betting purposes, and betting on NBA games.”

The NBA said upon investigation that it found that from January-March of 2024, that the legendary okayer Porter was either with the G League team Raptors 905, and he had placed almost 13 bets on the cash-rich basketball games using a betting account of his known associate, says Fox News.

Porter’s bets using his associate’s account amounted within the range of approximately $15 to a whopping total of $22,000, amounting to consolidated total of half a grand of 100,000 grand of US Dollars, and resulted in about $21,965 in net winnings, as per a report by the NBA.

Three of the wagers were multi-game and included a Raptors game, and Porter who posed on “betting that the Raptors would go down.” All these bets, according to recent reports were lost, says Fox News.

Porter was playing in the first season with the team of Raptors and played around 26 games this season before he was benched for what was determined as dismal performance as well as personal reasons. He averaged to an approximate 13.8 minutes per game, says a Fox News report.
