This is the seventh video in my series on great places for flat water kayaking in West Virginia and this time I’m kayaking on the Elk River Water Trail from the put in at Mink Shoals, WV to the brand new kayak launch at the coliseum in Charleston, WV. This nearly 5 mile section of river is mostly calm with just a couple lively shoals and lots of beautiful scenery. Blue herons, deer, duck, and geese were all on or near the water today.
If you’re looking for a fun, safe place to relax on the water and enjoy nature, the Elk River is hard to beat.
