Ensemble Herzliya – Orlando by Virginia Woolf (Parts from the play)

A co-production between the
Herzliya Ensemble (Israel) and Théâtre Vidy-Lausanne (Switzerland)

From the twilight of the Renaissance till “the present day”, the life of immortal Orlando unfolds: as a young, gentle aristocrat; a diplomat in 17th century Constantinople where he is transformed, overnight, from a man to a woman who carries on the journey in 18th century England; through to the Industrial Revolution and till the present. There 36 year old Androgynous Orlando stands on the brink of the Modern Era referring both to the eternal elements of nature, time and poetry and at the same time to the Civilization to which she could never really belong.
